Le Havre About Le Havre

The French city of Le Havre, located on the right shore of the estuary of the river Seine, was heavily damaged during the second World War and then rebuilt between the 1946 and 1964 thanks to the plans of the architect Auguste Perret.

Le Havre offers its visitors numerous attractions like the André-Malraux Museum of Modern Art, known worldwide for the collection of Impressionist painters, where guests will find the beautiful “Water Lilies” by the French painter Monet. A visit to the Norman city will include some post-war buildings such as the Church of Saint Joseph, with its octagonal tower, over 100mt high, but also the square next to the Town Hall and the Cathedral Notre-Dame, which has been restored after the war.

Visitors who want to learn more about the history of Le Havre may visit the “Museum of old Le Havre” where there are many objects that used to belong to the Ancien Régime and the 19th century.
