The only ferries capable of carrying vehicles are those departing from the port of Naples, Calata porta di Massa pier ; all other connections are operated by hydrofoils.

Ferry routes to Capri
There are many ports of departure for the island of Capri, some operating all year round and others only during the high season, serving some of the shipping companies that offer only seasonal services to ensure an efficient and adequate service for the very high demand from June to September.
The main ports of departure are certainly those of Amalfi, Positano and Salerno as far as the Amalfi Coast is concerned; less popular ports include Maiori, Minori, Cetara and Vietri sul Mare.
From the Gulf of Naples, the port offering the most departures to Capri is undoubtedly Naples, followed by Torre del Greco, Portici and Castellammare di Stabia. The port of Sorrento, in the Sorrentine Peninsula gets also quite busy in summer time.
NB: Departures from the port of Naples to Capri are distinguished into departures from the Calta Porta di Massa pier, where ferries are equipped with garages dock, and departures from the Beverello pier, dedicated only to the arrival and departures of hydrofoils and sailing vessels without garages.

There are no baggage restrictions for Capri ferries while for hydrofoil departures, each passenger is allowed one piece of hand baggage with a maximum size of 56 cm x 45 cm x 25 cm and a maximum weight of 10 kg. Additional baggage may be checked in for a small fee.

Capri ferries and hydrofoils are equipped with special seats for passengers with reduced mobility and are prepared to accommodate people in wheelchairs. Dedicated crew members are also on board to assist passengers with reduced mobility.

🚗 Vehicles
The island of Capri, every year during peak season is subject to traffic restrictions that prohibit the landing and movement of vehicles. The only exception is made for residents on the island of Capri, but do not worry, it is a walking island, so it's not necessary or recommended to bring a car with you, in fact the only ferries capable of carrying vehicles are those departing from the port of Naples, Calata Porta di Massa pier, all other connections are operated by hydrofoils.
