Crete is the largest and most populous island in Greece. It is located in the eastern Mediterranean Sea and is generally considered to be the watershed between the Aegean and Libyan Seas.

The cradle of the ancient Minoan civilization, Crete has been inhabited over the centuries by different peoples such as the Greeks, Romans, Byzantines, Muslims, Turks and Venetians who have left important historical traces that are still visible in the many archaeological sites, among the most important are the ancient cities of Knossos, Phaestos and Fourni, Gortina and the fortified city of Spinalonga.

This island enjoys a constantly warm and pleasant climate, which makes it a tourist destination that can be visited at any time of the year. Among the various natural beauties that this island offers visitors will find Mount Ida, Balos Lagoon and the pink beach of Elafonisi.

The short distance from the Greek mainland means that the island can be reached relatively quickly by sea. Ferries to Crete are operated regularly by Anek Lines and Minoan Lines.
