Saranda is the southernmost city in Albania and the closest to the Greek border, with a coastline rich in Mediterranean vegetation. On the highest hill of the city, you can see Lekursi Castle, a fortification from the Middle Ages. The Monastery of the 40 Saints, probably the origin of the name of the city, is perched on the hill with a magnificent view of the surrounding landscape and the bay. Another curiosity of the city are undoubtedly the ruins of the synagogue in the center of the city, considered the oldest in the Balkans.

Saranda is an excellent starting point for excursions to archaeological sites in the vicinity, for example the site of Butrint, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Around the small town of Saranda you will have many beaches at your disposal, easily accessible by car or bus service.
In the southern area, you will find the Bay of Mussels and St. George's Monastery Beach, beaches surrounded by Mediterranean nature, with a turquoise sea. One of the most famous beaches in the entire Albania is undoubtedly, Ksamil, with its crystal clear sea and nearby islets that paint a perfect picture. The seabed around Saranda is ideal for water sports such as diving and snorkeling.
