The duration of each crossing varies from 5 hours and 30 minutes to a maximum of 8 hours, although the shortest crossings are always the daytime ones.

Check-in
For all ferry companies, the check-in procedure differs depending on whether you are a pedestrian or a passenger with a vehicle: in the first situation, you only need to present yourself at the pier one hour before departure, in the second, you need to present yourself two hours before departure. If you are travelling with one or more children, it may be useful to know that Tirrenia and Grandi Navi Veloci do not charge for infants from 0 to 3 years of age, while reduced fares apply to children from 4 to 11 years of age and full fares apply to all passengers from 12 years of age. For Grimaldi Lines, the categories are 0-2 years old for NON-PAYING passengers, 3-11 years old for reduced fare passengers and 12 years old and over for full fare passengers.
