Ventotene ferries About Ventotene

The island of Ventotene has a lot to offer in terms of culture, history and architecture, having been a vital place in the time of the Roman Empire. Emperor Augustus even decided to build a private villa on the island with swimming pools, thermal baths and many other facilities. The old port of Ventotene is one of many examples of the engineering skill of the ancient Romans and today is a great place for a stroll with bars, restaurants, stores. Ventotene, together with Santo Stefano, is a beautiful nature reserve and marine protected area, an ideal destination for diving and all activities aimed at preserving the balance between economy and nature.

Despite being a small island, you will find many monuments and buildings to visit, like most Italian cities. The neoclassical-style church of Santa Candida has been attributed to the island's patron saint, besides you will find the convent of Capuchin friars. Among the many things to do, we recommend guided boat trips, among the island's delightful coves. You can go diving, discovering the rich seabed, among the many things to explore, you will find the wreck of the Santa Lucia.

There are many beaches that you will find on the island, we point out the most fascinating ones.
For the most part you will find coves, either near the port area such as Cala Rossano or Cala Nave, closer to the historic centre and the original Parata Grande, a large dark sandy beach.

Thanks to its proximity to the Latin coast, you will find the famous Villa Giulia, dating back to the Roman Empire. The villa was erected in honour of Augustus' daughter, Giulia.
