Start in the old town, located on a hill. Here you will find Toompea Castle, built in the 14th century. Today it houses the Estonian Parliament and can be visited from the inside, thanks to careful restoration. Also in the Old Town you can see the Aleksandr Nevsky Cathedral, an Orthodox building whose onion domes dominate the panorama of the entire city.

For a bite to eat and some shopping, head to the main square, Raekoja plats, the heart of the city. Here you will find the town hall, built in the Middle Ages and still used for the same purpose. The square hosts all the main city events, including the Christmas markets. Also, according to legend, it was here that the first public Christmas tree was displayed, back in 1441.

Head to Kadriorg Park, where you will find the elegant Kadriorg Palace, restored by Tsar Peter the Great in the Baroque style. Inside the palace, in addition to the opulent stucco and gold decorations, is the Art Museum of Estonia, which also has important installations in the surrounding park.

Immerse yourself in the green! On the outskirts of Tallinn, you will find the enchanting Kõrvemaa nature reserve, where you can spot several rare species: brown bear, grey wolf, lynx and black stork. After a beautiful and challenging hike, you can stop for a rest on the banks of one of the many lakes that characterise this reserve, and maybe even organise a picnic.

Tallinn Port (Terminal A) is only 1.5 km from the Old Town and can be reached on foot in about 20 minutes or by public tram or bus connection. It is about 5 km from the airport and easily accessible by car along the E67 or by taxi.
