Świnoujście is a city in northwestern Poland located in the Swina Strait a few kilometers from the German border and is connected to the Baltic Sea and the Szczecin Lagoon. The city, developed mainly on the 3 inhabited islands of Usedom, Wolin and Karisbor, extends on both banks of the Swina River and, as there is no road connection through it, the two banks are connected exclusively by ferries.
Used as a strategic stronghold for the defense of the lagoon and becoming a German naval base in the 19th century, today the port of Świnoujście is the largest and most modern port in Poland. From the port of Świnoujście there are regular ferry connections to Sweden, operated by the TT-Line shipping company up to 10 times a week, which, with a crossing of about 6 hours will allow you to reach the port of Trelleborg, the southernmost port of the country.
The Świnoujście ferry terminal has essential facilities for passengers, such as toilets, a supermarket just outside the port area and limited parking. Bars, restaurants, stores and more are located in the city center, just a few minutes drive away.
