Ferries to SC de la Palma Port connections and services

If you are looking for nature, relaxation, adventure and breathtaking views in a vacation, your next destination is the island of La Palma!

La Palma is the fifth largest of the Canary Islands in terms of population and size. Known since the time of Pliny the Elder, the island was inhabited for centuries by the indigenous people of the Benahoaritas until the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors, who finally occupied it in 1493. In this year the island's capital, Santa Cruz de La Palma, located on the east coast, was founded. It is part of the province of SC de Tenerife.

The history of Santa Cruz developed in parallel with that of its port: used since the 16th century as a stopover on routes to the Americas, it is now the most important sea access to La Palma, both for passenger and vehicle traffic and for cruise tourism.

🚢 The port of SC de La Palma is directly connected to the islands of Tenerife, Los Cristianos, and la Gomera, San Sebastián. Ferry departures are offered daily by Fred Olsen and Naviera Armas.
From SC de La Palma it is also possible to reach the other islands in the archipelago (with the exception of El Hierro) via stops made by Naviera Armas vessels on the route to Cadiz.

Although air connections are available from several European locations, reaching SC de La Palma by ferry can be a great option, especially if you are traveling by car, motorcycle, or motorhome. In this case, we always recommend that you book your ticket well in advance!

SC de La Palma Maritime Station performs the essential functions of a passenger terminal, with waiting rooms, baggage storage, and car rental agencies. In the area in front of the embarkations, there is a shopping area with nightclubs, bars and restaurants, where you can wait for the next ferry leaving SC de La Palma among cocktails, tapas and typical local dishes.
There is also ample free parking, a cab stand, and bus stops. For all other services, the waterfront behind the port will provide everything you may need, such as banks, supermarkets, and all kinds of stores.

SC de la Palma ferries About SC de la Palma

Unlike the other Canary Islands, La Palma only began promoting tourism in the late 1980s and today attracts visitors mainly for its natural beauty, ideal for trekkers.

But its capital city, Santa Cruz de La Palma, also offers much to see for transit travelers. Nestled on the eastern slope of the Caldera del Taburiente, Santa Cruz municipality rises from sea level to an altitude of 1,800 meters, giving it a unique scenic appearance.

Once you disembark in this 15th-century town, you will immediately be enveloped in its quaint atmosphere, with colonial-style manor houses and flowers decorating its typical carved wooden balconies. In the port area, you can visit the Naval Museum and the Barco de la Virgen monument, a reproduction of the ship Santa Maria with which Columbus landed in the Americas.

Not far away, you can visit the Santa Catalina Castle, the last bastion of the ancient defensive walls of Santa Cruz, from which you can enjoy a splendid view of the port and the city.

If you want even better views, just continue inland and you'll quickly rise in altitude. In La Palma you can try your hand at hiking trails of all levels in the laurisilva and Canary Island pine forests and along the ridges of ancient calderas, or join guided tours in the parks of still-active volcanoes, such as Cumbre Vieja.
