Porto Torres ferries About Porto Torres

Porto Torres is one of the gateways to northern Sardinia and a center with a rich Roman and medieval history.

Take time to discover the city by exploring the harbor, center, and surroundings.
The Aragonese tower stands imposingly in the city's harbor. Once a defense site and lighthouse, the tower is now a cultural exhibition space.

The city's glorious past is recounted in the Turris Libisonis archaeological park, where the entire Roman period can be seen thanks to years of excavations.
Porto Torres boasts a large number of archaeological treasures ranging from prehistoric to medieval times.  Also a place of interest is the Romanesque Basilica and the Church of the Blessed Virgin of the Consolata.

Porto Torres was founded at the mouth of the Mannu River. It is still possible to see the almost intact Roman bridge, consisting of 7 arches 135 meters long.

A great testimony to the Middle Ages is undoubtedly the Basilica of San Gavino, the largest and oldest Romanesque church in Sardinia. Also notable are the civil architectures such as the Palace of the Marquis or the Harbor Museum.

If you like to relax by the crystal clear sea, you will find your happiness in the fabulous and very popular beaches of Pelosa and Platamona, located near Porto Torres. La Ginestra beach is the town beach of Porto Torres. Its promenade is ideal for a stroll one kilometer from the city center.

On the other hand, if you are a nature lover, we suggest a walk in the parks of San Gavino and La Farrizza pine forest.
