Ferries to PiranPort connections and services

Piran is a port city in Slovenia, in the region of Istria on the Adriatic Sea. Situated on a narrow peninsula of Punta Madonna, Piran faces Italy across the Gulf of Trieste. Until the late 19th century, Piran was inhabited mainly by Italians due to its proximity to the Italian-Slovenian border, Trieste is infact less than 40 kilometers away.

The port of Piran is located in Slovenia, small in size, is developed in an inlet, where there are piers and docks equipped for the docking of hydrofoils and passenger ferries, which provide connections.

The port reality enjoys a good organization for the reception of passenger ferry traffic to Piran, recreational and dedicated fishing boats.

There are many vacationers each year, from national and international backgrounds, who choose to reach this wonderful tourist destination with the convenience of the routes offered by hydrofoils and ferries.

The port of Piran divides the town in two, between the two districts of Punta and Marciana.
The port area of Piran is divided into small and large breakwater, new pier and main pier, and is equipped for docking ships to and from Piran.

Around the ferry terminal to Piran you will find various services, such as parking lots, bars and restaurants, stores, gas stations, information office, and various accommodation options.

From the port of Piran there are numerous connections to Venezia e and Trieste and the duration varies depending on the destination, it can be 40 minutes or as in the case of Trieste two hours and 45 minutes. The crossings are operated by the Venezia Lines and Liberty Lines shipping companies. 

Near the port you will find services such as bars, pastry shops, restaurants, pizzerias, grocery stores, information offices, and ATMs. Given the location close to the historic center you will also find stores selling local products.

The port's proximity to the town center allows ferry passengers to take advantage of all the services there.

The tourist area overlooking the port area provides ferry passengers with typical local restaurants, snack bars for a quick meal, banking services, stores, markets, and pharmacies. Also in the vicinity of the port are rental offices that allow cars and scooters to be rented.

Piran is one of the most authentic port towns in Slovenia. It is a historical and cultural monument rightfully included on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

As you stroll through the town, you can admire the medieval walls and buildings of Venetian Gothic architecture.

The main square, Tartinijev Trg, dedicated to the famous violinist Giuseppe Tartini, boasts a sumptuous Venetian house with shaped balconies and windows.

For spectacular views of Piran and its surroundings, climb the city walls or to the top of the bell tower of St. George's Church.

The Maritime Museum is worth a visit; it tells the naval history of Slovenia.

A walk along the waterfront will take you from the lively seaside atmosphere of the evening, with its clubs and restaurants, to the old town with its palaces and ancient buildings.

Around Piran, you can relax in Portorož. It is a seaside resort famous for its services and facilities for young people and families.

By car, to reach the port of Piran it is necessary to take State Road 202, continuing on New Anas Road 326 and taking Road 111. Several connections to Piran depart from the Trieste bus station. By train, the nearest station is Koper.
