Since the Minoan era, the island was used as a place to grow vines, thanks to its pastures and hillsides. During the Byzantine period it was used as a shipyard, but after the splendor, during the Turkish occupation it had a sharp decline.

The port of Limnos is Myrina, not that main town on the island, located on the western side, allows faster travel to Piraeus. The harbor is quite close to the city center, reachable by foot. Limnos ferries About Limnos

Limons island is the perfect destination for those who are looking for a vacation away from the city's chaos. This island is for sure the most unfrequented and lonely island in the Aegean.

The island played during its history a key role in Greek defense, in fact, even today you will find the base of the Hellenic Air Force. Given its location, Limnos was the scene of important clashes during the First World War,  visit the Commonwealth cemetery located in the second most important village, Moudros.

On the island you'll find the port village of Myrina, which donates countless services to its visitors, raise your head and you'll see the Byzantine castle built in 1200 stand out.

The island is dedicated to selective tourism, seeking naturalness and Greek tradition. Visit the many nature parks, which offer views of flamingos and other migratory seabirds.

During your visit to the historic center you will come across the many archaeological sites, including Hephaestia with its famous theater, Poliochni the prehistoric village. The sanctuary of the Cabiri pays homage to the mythological figures, protectors of blacksmiths.

One of the highlights of the island are the heavenly beaches, with few tourists, mostly golden sand including: Avlonas, Agios Thanos and Ioannis. We recommend visiting the island by quad, as many beaches are difficult to reach.
