The city of Hook of Holland is located in the western part of the Netherlands, at the mouth of the New Waterway canal, which flows into the North Sea. In the city outskirts, you can spot the huge Maeslantkering, a 200 metres long floodgate that prevents Rotterdam from flooding.

Located on the sea, Hook of Holland has an 18 kilometres long beach and numerous sand dunes. You can explore the coast on foot or bike, there are many trails. You can practice water sports such as surf, sailing, kitesurf.

Between the two wars, the city has started developing into a seaside resort but, when the Second World War started, it was incorporated in the Atlantic Wall. Today, it is still possible to see some military structures, and history buffs can visit the city fort. Among other attractions, we suggest the Rockart Museum of Dutch Pop Music, a particular museum dedicated to pop artists, located very close to the Stena Line boardings.

You can reach the nearby Rotterdam, where you can shop, go see museums, or just stroll along its wonderful canals. Rotterdam is a must-see destination, offering a wide variety of attractions, monuments, avant-garde architecture. Reach the near Delft, where the famous painter Johannes Vermeer was born. Don’t miss the beautiful old church, a marvel from the Gothic period.

Amsterdam is just 80 kilometres away, you can organise a day-trip to this beautiful capital during your stay in Hook of Holland. Wonderful eighteenth-century buildings await you, reflected on the thousand canals of this city. The port of Hook of Holland is located about 5 minutes by car from the city centre and about 1 hour by car from Amsterdam. The underground station is next to the Stena Line Terminal. There is also a bus connection to Hook harbour. Inside the ferry terminal, you can find vending machines, toilets, a car parking and a restaurant. In the port area, there are several cafés, restaurants, and supermarkets.
