Fishguard ferries About Fishguard

Fishguard is a nice coast town in Wales, rich in history and tradition!

In the past, Vikings from Norway settled near Fishguard. Its name referred to the place where the Scandinavian populations had a base for trade and commerce. The town of Fishguard developed throughout history into an important place of exchange and a port for fishing and trade with Ireland.

You can start your visit with the old part of the town, characterized by small houses that surround the port area. You can admire the ruins of the city fort and the Gorsedd circle, a modern era stone circle inspired by the country's megalithic monuments. In the Lower Town harbour you can enjoy the rugged coastal scenery and walks.

Fishguard offers many attractions, among others, the Folk Festival, which has become very famous in Wales. It is an opportunity for artists to be known and express their art. It is a very interesting event as it brings together different cultures and traditions, such as Celtic, Breton and Cornish ones. The town also offers wonderful gardens like the Dyffryn Fernant Garden.

You can widen your experience by exploring the Pembrokeshire Coast National Park and its Coast Park, a 299 kilometres trail route in an enchanting landscape. After that, you can take your car and drive to Cardiff, the capital of Wales and its largest city. If you want to visit England, the closer cities are Bath, rich of history and beautiful architecture, and the modern and lively Bristol.
