The port of Catania is an artificial port located in the centre of the Mediterranean Sea, along the east coast of Sicily.

Its current structure dates back to the 1930s, when it was renovated and enlarged, after being destroyed by swells and earthquakes. Today the port has a total area of 470,000 square metres and 26 docks for commercial, pleasure and tourist traffic.

The maritime station Vecchia Dogana is just 2 km from the city centre of Catania and has been renovated throughout the years. In addition the usual touristic services, it hosts food and wine events and typical shops.

The terminal also offers an info point which provides useful information about the Sicilian territory. Its location is strategically convenient for tourists, due to its proximity to the railway station, the subway and the airport.

The port offers passenger routes to Salerno and Malta, while the commercial traffic extends its area to the whole Mediterranean
