The Port of Cagliari is located in the southern part of Sardinia and serves its regional capital and most inhabited city. The port offers regular connections to the mainland with departures to Civitavecchia and Naples, while the route to Palermo represents the only maritime passenger link between Sardinia and Sicily.

The harbour of Cagliari has been exploited since ancient times, even before the Roman era. The current structure dates back to the 1900s and was extensively restored after the bombings of the Second World War.

Today the port is divided into three areas: the historic port, located in the centre of the city, for pleasure boats, passengers ships and goods; the industrial port for container handling; the petroleum terminal for the transport of chemicals.

Developed within the urban fabric of Cagliari, the port is ideal for welcoming the many travellers to and from Sardinia and is managed regularly throughout the year.

In addition to the tourists facilities provided by the maritime station, such as snack bars, luggage storage and info points, the seafront area offers cafes, restaurants, shops and bank services, as well as rentals, taxi and public transport.
