The city of Barcelona, located in the beautiful region of Catalonia, benefits from a strategic location overlooking the Balearic Sea and not too far from the Maghreb coast. Since the Middle Ages, the port of Barcelona has played a key role in trade in the Mediterranean, even rivaling the maritime republics of Genoa, Pisa and Venice.

Today Barcelona is a popular tourist destination and one of the most visited cities in Spain and Europe where centuries of history, architectural beauty from various eras, dreamy beaches and a welcoming and lively atmosphere are concentrated in it.

The port of Barcelona is about twelve kilometers long and is divided into three areas: Port Vell (old port), the commercial port and the logistic port. Two marinas are also part of Barcelona's maritime activity: Port Olímpic and Port Fòrum Sant Adrià, to the north. The port has modern facilities to accommodate numerous cargo ships, cruises and passenger ferries.

The port is served by regular ferry connections to the Balearic Islands by the shipping companies Balearia e Trasmed. The ports on the west coast of Italy, Civitavecchia and Genoa, are connected to the port of Barcelona by the companies Grimaldi Lines and Grandi Navi Veloci.

Porto Torres, in Sardinia, is also a destination reachable via the port of Barcelona with Grimaldi Lines. Barcelona is connected to the Moroccan ports of Nador and Tangier Med by Grimaldi Lines and GNV.

The terminals of the port of Barcelona have multiple services such as luggage lockers, waiting rooms, restaurants, air conditioning and various stores for the purchase of souvenirs/snacks. Parking facilities are also available nearby.
