Ag.Kirikos ferries About Ag.Kirikos

When we talk about the island of Ikaria, we are convinced that it is not an island for everyone! An island with a large mountain chain running through it with its highest mountain Fardi reaching 1040 m, located in the Fourni archipelago.

According to Greek legend, the island's name comes from Icarus, son of Daedalus, who fled with his father from Minos. To escape he used fairy wings made of plumes and wax, but as he approached the sun they melted and fell into the sea on the island of Icarus.

The main town and port is Ag. Kirikos, built at the base of a hill, will give you a peaceful vacation surrounded by nature.
You will find a picturesque village, with its white houses and red roofs and the waterfront located in the port area. Heading towards the town center, you will find a beautiful cathedral, dedicated to the patron saint. Tourism on the island is popular year-round, thanks to its hot springs, which allow for a mild climate most of the year.

Moving northward you will find Therma, another village with the remains of the famous acropolis, you will discover many radioactive water springs and a spa frequented mostly by older tourists. You will also find a small beach, where you can breathe in the beneficial vapors coming out of the ground.

The village of Ag. Kirikos does not have many beaches, you will have to move to Fanari, where you will find a long sandy beach and crystal clear water.
