Milazzo Lipari ferry Shipping companies, check-in and fares

The Milazzo Lipari ferry is the most popular connection for thousands of tourists every year, allowing them to travel from the Sicilian port of Milazzo to one of the most important Aeolian islands. For this reason, this route is active all year round, so that residents can move around regularly and tourists are able to reach it easily during the at off-peak season. Thanks to the two shipping companies that operate it: Liberty Lines with its hydrofoils and Siremar with its ferries.
In the low season, Liberty Lines operates around 13 departures a day, while Siremar operates between 3 and 4. In high season, however, the number of departures increases to around 35 a day. This allows you to choose from several possible time slots and better organise your trip.
There are no night departures throughout the period, but the first departure is at around 06.30 in the morning and the last one at around 21.00.
The duration of the crossing made by hydrofoils is one hour and five minutes in total while those made by ferries are about two hours.

To board the Milazzo Lipari ferry you have to check in at the port 30 minutes in advance if you are travelling on foot (both ferries and hydrofoils) and 60 minutes in advance if you are travelling by car.

A valid passport is required for the Milazzo Lipari ferry, if you are an Italian resident you only need to bring your identity card.

On board all Milazzo Lipari hydrofoils there are almost all the essential services listed above: a bar corner where you can buy a snack or a drink, essential toilets, assistance for passengers with reduced mobility and the possibility of taking your pet with you. The main difference is that as they are hydrofoils they do not have garages where you can embark your own vehicle, which is why you will only be able to include your articulated bicycle in your booking.
Finally, each passenger is limited to one piece of standard hand baggage on the ticket, with additional baggage available for a small additional charge.
