One of the routes that will take you to Elba Island is the Bastia Portoferraio. The route is operated only by Elba Ferries, in the months from June to mid-September, and lasts 1 hour and 30 minutes.

The stopover is represented by the most important city in Corsica: Bastia, located in the southern part of the island overlooks the Tuscan archipelago itself, so it turns out to be the closest port of departure to reach Elba Island. 

Currently, the Portoferraio-Bastia ferry ride offered by Elba Ferris runs only two days a week. Departure from Elba Island is usually in the evening, on Wednesdays and Thursdays. The ferry leaves Portoferraio at 8 pm and docks in Bastia at 9:30 pm.

Portoferraio is the “city” of Elba Island, the largest municipality and the largest port you will find on the Island, and is located in its northern part. 

Among the things to see in Portoferraio are certainly the beautiful beaches such as Capobianco, le Ghiaie, Sansone, Sottobomba and the list could go on and on. Biodola is the most famous beach in Portoferraio, with its endless length and crystal clear sea allows you to enjoy a relaxing day.

Bastia Portoferraio ferries can board both passengers and vehicles. The spacious garages on board can accommodate different categories of vehicles such as cars, motorcycles, caravans, and campers.  

In order to provide passengers with a comfortable and relaxing journey, the ferries from Bastia to Portoferraio offer some essential services such as a cafeteria, a bar, a children's playroom, air conditioning, some shops, and toilets. 

Pets are welcome on board Bastia Portoferraio ferries! They will not have access to the bar area on board, but there will be outdoor and indoor areas where they can enjoy the crossing.

In order for your pet to travel with you, please remember to bring everything required by the ferry company: leash, muzzle, pet carrier, ticket if required, and health and vaccination records.

Due to the short duration of the crossing, it is not possible to book a cabin, but you will be able to use all the services on board the ferry. Guests can spend the crossing in comfortable armchairs in the communal areas and on the outside decks, where additional seating is available.

You will need to arrive at least one hour before boarding, especially if you are travelling with an accompanying vehicle.
