The first of the 7 towns you will find when you disembark from the ferry to Elba Island is Portoferraio. It is the largest town on the island and is called “the city” of Elba, with roots from Cosimo de Medici to Napoleon. There are ferries from Piombino to Portoferraio every day of the year. The port of Portoferraio is the largest on Elba and is located in the northern part of the island.
ποΈ The beautiful beaches of Capobianco, le Ghiaie, Sansone, Sottobomba and the list could go on and on, are certainly among the things to see in Portoferraio. Biodola is the most famous beach in Portoferraio, and with its endless length and crystal clear sea, it allows you to enjoy a relaxing day.
Marina di Campo is the largest town on the southern part of the island and is known as the liveliest town, full of parties, discos, festivals, and beach parties. It enjoys a beautiful promenade in the center of the town, surrounded by bars and clubs with a wonderful nightlife.
Capoliveri, on the other hand, is a small medieval town located on a hill and is rich in history, sport, culture, nightlife, and traditions. It is famous for the Legend Cup, a mountain bike race, and the Festa dell'Uva, a traditional festival that has been held for many years. It celebrates the ancient grape harvest.
Porto Azzurro, on the other hand, overlooks the sea and is actually considered a small fishing village. In the past it was called Porto Longone, a name given by Philip III of Spain. The village of is characterised by its mineral beaches, its paths that are perfect for a day of hiking, its boat trips and its village festivals that are held in the main square.
