Are you in Norway and want to take a ferry to Denmark? On MrFerry you can book your ticket for the Oslo Frederikshavn crossing!
Frederikshavn is a seaport in the North Jutland Region, in Northern Denmark. The ferry terminal has all the necessary services for passengers, like parking, bars and restaurants. You can reach it easily with public transport, it is located 1 kilometre from the rail station. The ferry company operating the Oslo Frederikshavn line is DFDS and connects the two ports all year long in about 10 hours of navigation. The departures from Oslo are mainly in the afternoon, arriving in Frederikshavn in the late evening.
→ Frederikshavn is a small town, but it’s an excellent starting point for a holiday in Denmark: the first stop are Hirsholmene, an archipelago nearby where you can find vivid fishing villages and golden beaches populated by seagulls and razorbills. Afterwards, head to the town’s botanical garden, where plants from the five continents are displayed. If you love hiking, you will find a lot of interesting trails in the town of Sæby, 15 kilometres from Frederikshavn.
→ Head north towards Skagen, the northernmost point of Denmark. The area features long sandy beaches and is loved by Nordic tourists, especially during the summer. The Grenen peninsula is the point where the two seas merge, the Skagerrak and the Kattegat. The place is charming, but remember that it is forbidden to swim, due to the strong currents. The most characteristic building in the area is the Sand-Covered Church, built in 1300 and almost completely buried by the sand: the bell tower is still standing, emerging from the dunes and offering a unique view in the world. This area has also left its mark on the artistic scene: in fact, at the end of the 19th century, the group of the Skagen Painters was born here, inspired by impressionism. Their works are collected and can be visited at the Skagen museum.
🦭 Set off to the West Coast and discover the Thy national park, with long sandy beaches and grassy dunes to explore on foot, by bike or on horseback. Here you will be able to spot different animals such as the crane, the red deer, the common seal and the adder. Slightly further north is Klitmøller, a favourite destination for Danish surfers. Heading towards the centre of the Jutland peninsula, you will find the capital of the region, the city of Aalborg: you can eat in one of the luxury restaurants, admire the avant-garde architecture or get lost in the narrow streets surrounded by colourful traditional houses. You can admire the art murals or dive into the past by discovering the Viking settlement of Lindholm Høje.
→ If you're travelling with children, you can take them to Legoland, which is a 2-hour drive from the port of Frederikshavn. Finally, you can head to the capital, the beautiful Copenhagen, where tradition and avant-garde blend harmoniously. Let Copenhagen charm you with gastronomic specialities and numerous cultural events, then relax in one of the many green corners in the heart of the city. Explore the capital's must-see sights, from the canals of Nyhavn to Tivoli amusement park, from the shops of Strøget to Amalienborg Castle.
