Viking Line All departures and offers on MrFerry!

In 1959, the S/S Viking ferry of the Vikinglinjen Ab company, founded by Captain Gunnar Eklund in the Åland Islands, crossed the Baltic Sea for the first time. In the following years, the cooperation between the companies Vikinglinjen Ab, Rederi AB Slite, Ålandsfärjan Ab and Oy Viking Line Ab started a new era of vehicle and passenger transport between the Finnish mainland, the Åland Islands and Sweden.

Although these new connections were initially viewed with skepticism, they soon proved to be an excellent travel option. While until then goods had only been transported between Sweden and Finland by land, ferry trips were very long and expensive, and vehicle boarding difficulties were considerable, Viking Line's new routes finally made the movement of goods, vehicles and passengers faster and cheaper.

In 1960, the company moved its destination port to Kapellskär, and in 1963 the route between Marienhamn and Kapellskär was established. In 1970, the shipping company purchased three new ships, which for the first time were designed to offer plenty of space for transporting vehicles and were equipped with all the comforts to ensure passengers a pleasant journey.

Today, Viking Line ferries take you comfortably to the main Baltic ports in Estonia, Finland, Sweden and the Åland Islands.

Viking Line Fleet and on board services

Viking Line ferries connect the port of Helsinki with the Estonian capital Tallin, the central port of the Swedish capital Stockholm and Mariehamn , the main port of the Åland islands. Other Viking Line ferries operate from the Finnish port of Turku to the two ports of Långnäs and Mariehamn on the Åland Islands, from where you can travel to Stockholm. The port of Kapellskär can only be reached from the port of Mariehamn.

Viking Line's fleet consists of 7 modern and safe ferries equipped with all kinds of comforts and services. Depending on which ship you travel on, you will find cafes, bars, buffet and a la carte restaurants, saunas and spas, casinos and nightclubs, children's play areas and numerous stores where you can buy souvenirs, tobacco products, local delicacies, cosmetics and clothing.

During your crossing on board Viking Line ferries, you can choose one of the many types of cabins available; there are standard or sea view inside cabins, premium cabins, cabins with balconies, cabins for families or passengers with disabilities and suites, all with exclusive access and private bathrooms.

If you're traveling with your pet, you can bring them with you in the cabin if it's an overnight trip. On short trips, your pet travels free of charge in the car. We always recommend that you specify your pet at the time of booking.
