Mar de Ons All the ferry crossing

A Spanish company founded in the 1990s, Mar de Ons operates ferry services between the coast and Galicia's Atlantic Islands National Park in the province of Pontevedra.

Mar de Ons has more than 25 years of experience and is currently a leader in the Galician Islands ferry industry, with more than one million passengers choosing their services each year to visit this beautiful national park.

Operating in a protected natural area, the company is committed to caring for and respecting the environment in the daily operation of its activities and services, minimizing negative impact on the environment and promoting a sustainable culture internally and externally.

Mar de Ons' main destinations are the Cíes Islands and Ons Island, as well as the small islands of San Simón and Tambo.

🚢 All Mar de Ons crossings:

  • Cíes Islands can be reached from the ports of Vigo and Cangas year-round, with multiple daily departures in summer and one per week during winter. In addition, during the summer, transportation is enhanced with departures from Baiona, Portonovo, and Sanxenxo.

  • Ons Island is connected only during the summer and busiest months to the ports of Vigo, Bueu, Portonovo, Baiona, Sanxenxo, and Pontevedra ;

  • San Simón Island can be visited during the summer with daily departures from Cangas and Vigo, and Tambo Island from the Port of Combarro

Mar de Ons Fleet and on board services

The Mar de Ons fleet consists of 9 vessels, including catamarans and fast ferries, which make the crossings in short times and easily allow passengers to visit the islands in a day, even for a few hours.

Crossings, however short, are made enjoyable by the facilities on board, including even a bar/cafeteria and indoor and outdoor lounges from which to admire the view.

Not all boats are suitable for transporting disabled passengers, so we recommend checking and booking your ticket early (contact us for more information).

💡 What to know before booking

The regulations of Galicia's Atlantic Islands National Park, as a protected area, do not allow pets on the Cíes, Ons, and San Simón islands, so you will not be able to include them in your Mar de Ons ticket.

It is important to know that in order to reach the Cíes Islands and Ons Island during high season periods, an access permit issued by the Xunta de Galicia is required, which restricts the number of visitors in order to preserve their natural riches, see Mar de Ons transport conditions here.

By booking with MrFerry, you will not have to go through this procedure: make your reservation request on our portal and we will take care of the registration for your visit, where applicable. Along with the booking localizador, you will be directly sent the authorization QR code, with which you can collect your boarding pass upon departure!

🕙 Is it necessary to check in?

Yes, Mar de Ons Company requires mandatory check-in, which must be done at the port ticket offices before departure. The check-in time limit is a maximum of 30 minutes before departure.

At the ticket counter you will need to present:

  • the identity documents of all passengers, indicated at the time of booking;

  • the reservation number (localizador), sent by Traghettilines following the confirmation of your request;

  • the authorization QR code of the Xunta of Galicia for access to the Park (see above What to know before booking).
