La Méridionale is a French shipping company based in Marseille, founded in 1931 when two Rastit brothers married the daughters of the shipowner Giannoni de Cassano. However, the company started the connections only in 1937 with a cargo service to Corsica.
In 1988, the company converted its ships to also accommodate passengers and vehicles and began a daily scheduled service in the Mediterranean, connecting mainland France with Corsica.
