🏝️ What to see in Mahón
Menorca is an island that protects its natural riches, and this is evident. Its paradisiacal white beaches and parks are the main treasures of Menorca that we recommend you explore during your stay. Numerous hiking trails offer you the chance to traverse unspoiled landscapes and breathtaking views.
But in addition to being a vacation spot, Menorca is also a destination rich in history and culture! Before heading off to the beaches and coves, set aside a few hours for a visit to the Mahón area.
Ferries from Palma de Mallorca will take you directly to Mahón, the island's capital. Stroll around the port area, the liveliest part of town. Walk along the Baixamar, where typical restaurants are waiting for you to enjoy delicious seafood dishes. The many bars and clubs here are great places to sip local gin and listen to good music.
The old part of Mahón, Plaça de S'Esplanada, is the pedestrian area where you can admire the city's treasures and vestiges of the past. Also visit the majestic Cathedral of Santa Maria with its 19th-century organ, the most majestic in Europe.
For shopping, the pedestrian street Carrer Nou is full of small craft stores and products such as typical sandals (the famous "minorchinas") or local gin.
Mahón's surroundings are also worth a visit: we recommend Sant Climent, a small village less than four kilometers from the capital, the Pont des Castell viewpoint and the Basilica of Fornàs in Torelló.
